D.O.T. Keyless Combination Padlock

Heute habe ich zufällig in einem Antikladen dieses wunderbare Kombinations Vorhangschloss bekommen.

Original unbenutzt mit Anleitung und Umstellschlüssel in Originalschachtel.

Eine Recherche im Internet ergab nichts und nun bin ich sehr interssiert daran mehr zu erfahren.

Ein Telefonat nach England ergab auch nichts.

Die Bedienungsanleitung sagt, daß eine beliebige Kombination eingestellt werden kann.

Ich möchte das nicht versuchen, denn wenn etwas falsch gemacht wird, ist das Schloß wahrscheinlich für immer zu.

Today I was very lucky to find a combination padlock which I have not seen so far – and believe me I have seen many different locks.

It is unused in its original box with instruction paper and changekey.

I tried to find out something on the internet, but did not succeed, also a phonecall to UK did not bring any light on the lock.

The instruction says, that any combination can be used, not only three numbers, so I am wondering about the mechanism.

Can anyone help or find the patent. -update: Mo.07.06.2010 got the patent - thank you Craig !!!

I don´t want to try, because if I do it wrong the lock is locked forever in my understanding after reading the instruction.

So far it is set to the factory combination 1-2-3.

Any help is very much appreciated.
